Anything to do with websites has the capacity to make people as crazy as a box of frogs. One of the big reasons is that it is such a huge field that has sprung up quickly and there is an expectation that we have to be able to use it in our day to day life and also in business. I stumbled into this field because I was fed up with being stung by web designers. I paid money for a website and it did nothing. I didn’t have any access to controlling it, nor did I understand that a baby website needs nurturing.
This nurturing depends on the type of business that you have and what you want your website to do for you. There are many types of websites and many ways to market them and there is little consensus about what is ‘right.’ You need to have an understanding of your options and then you can have a strategy and then build your site. So first of all you need to decide what you want your website to do, and then you need to work out how to market it. Setting it up is the easy part!
